Founded in 1975 as the Capital Beltway Hockey League, the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) is sanctioned by USA Hockey Tier II league through its membership in the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association (PVAHA).

The association is governed by its bylaws and an elected Board of Directors.   The CBHL exists to provide a fun, safe and properly supervised atmosphere for hockey instruction that emphasizes skill development and also promotes the establishment of value-based life lessons on the part of its players, including the importance of hard work, dedication to goals, good sportsmanship, and discipline.
