SOUTHEASTERN DISTRICT COLLEGE HOCKEY NEWSLETTER
June - July 2005 Edition

Welcome to Spring ’05…School is coming to a close for the year and more Clubs/Teams are holding Tryouts for next season… When you and your family have decided what team and club you will be playing for, make certain that you do some things that will introduce you more to them…Find out what camps your club tells its players to attend – every club and coach has a few favorites. Look for the camps where your new Coach will be working – it should be clear that any chance your new coaches will have to see you practice and play will be time well spent when you begin next season. I give this recommendation to players across the nation thru the web – don’t say -- thanks for selecting me Coach for next year’s team and then not see him/ until August or September – at the very least ask for his summer fitness training program…These tactics show your interest and will pay off in the Fall once you have prepared properly next season…

You all have read my guidance for the Summer…Don’t be one dimensional…Play some Baseball, some Tennis or Summer Lacrosse…Remember to spend some quality time with your Parents and Family; they are your support system; they get you to the rink – they pay all the bills and it is time to provide some payback…

Remember to buy and take one of those new SAT I tests…With a little time you can see where you are with the new test – especially the added requirement for an Original Essay and the maximum score of 2400 rather than the 1600 we all have known for so long…And finally, take a look at The Former Caps Strength and Fitness Coach Frank Costello’s Speed and Agility Center at College Park…He has had some of the Caps there already since they had more time on their hands this past season but a few hours there will help every hockey player Grow Their Game…301-779-8000…

Most everyone knows that our goal with this Newsletter is to RECOGNIZE any area player who has earned a spot on any Prep, Junior, College (ACHA or NCAA) or Pro Team across the nation and to MOTIVATE OTHERS TO FOCUS THEIR WORK IN THE CLASSROOM/ON THE ICE TO EARN SUCH A SPOT. If you see a missing player, please let me know at malley@ix.netcom.com and visit my web site at www.veryserioushockey.com
